Nobel Prize Winner Works as a Gardner

Sir Lawrence Bragg, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist, worked as a part-time gardener in London.

After moving to a city flat in London in the mid-1950s, he greatly missed his garden in Cambridge. To get his hands dirty, he put on old clothes and found work as a part-time gardener in the wealthy Chelsea neighborhood. He worked anonymously under the name "Willie" until a visiting guest recognized him and asked her hostess, "Good heavens, what is Sir Lawrence Bragg doing in your garden?" He had to stop the gardening side-job shortly after because it was deemed improper for a knight.
