Dad Shoots Daughter’s Accused Assaulter, Then Gets the Higher Bond 

The man accused of raping an 11-year-old girl and possessing videos depicting the abuse of even younger children received the lower bond than the father who put two bullet holes into the alleged child molester.

Malik Chandler, an Ohio father who shot the man accused of assaulting his 11-year-old daughter, received a $100,000 bond—which is higher than the bond set for the accused assaulter. 

The Incident

The Discovery: The mother of an 11-year-old girl in Grove City, Ohio, found a video on her daughter's phone showing her being sexually assaulted. [1, 2]
The Luring: The father, 31-year-old Malik Chandler, used TikTok to pose as his daughter and message the suspect, 20-year-old Diego Montoya Gonzalez, inviting him to the home. 
The Shooting: When Gonzalez arrived at the house, Chandler allegedly shot him twice. 

The Charges and Bonds

The Father: Malik Chandler was arrested and charged with felonious assault. His bond was set at $100,000.
The Accused Assaulter: Diego Montoya Gonzalez was charged with rape and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. His bond was set lower, consisting of a $20,000 recognizance plus $50,000 cash/surety.
