My View
Cambridge wanted snake oil and Arday supplied it. But Arday's snake oil was of low quality and not all produced by him. Cambridge knew something about the quality from reading his work before hiring him and from knowing that he had not attracted grants or advised PhD students. Given their limited vetting, they did not know all of it.
Arday and Cambridge held off critics by calling them racist and accusing them of stalking, even contacting the police.
Arday knew what he was doing and that it was not right. Cambridge should have known. Cambridge has more experience and resources so in some sense more should be expected of them. It is still not clear that Cambridge recognizes that demanding snake oil is objectionable although they may realize that the snake oil they purchased was tainted. Their demand for snake oil is the most damnable part of this whole affair and unlikely to change. Cambridge may start inspecting their snake oil salespeople but are likely to continue purchasing snake oil. Also, Cambridge's willingness for critics to be called racist is condemnable.
Cambridge Responsibility
You are exactly what's wrong with academia. Your kind of people put a vulnerable fabulist on a pedestal, and exposed him to international media coverage, simply because you wanted to flaunt your own virtue and cleanse off your "whiteness".
This tragic affair is 100% on Cambridge University and all the racially obsessed DEI ideologues who participated in the charade, not on the journalists and academics who finally exposed the fraud and the lies, despite the serious legal threats and the huge reputational costs.
Calling this a "witch hunt" or "lynching" or "bullying to death" is absolutely despicable, and an insult to everyone who has ever been a victim of these crimes.
Arday Responsibility
Arday literally tried to PUT IN JAIL two of his truthful critics. He stole academic achievement from @Cambridge_Uni undergraduates he refused to supervise, told them their work was perfect and then they got lower grades. When they complained they were called racist. Their appeals were denied. Jason Arday made false criminal complaints to @metpoliceuk who took them seriously and spent multiple months criminally investigating a journalist for doing his job. Jason Arday hurt others, defrauded, hurt undergraduates and tried to put both a fellow academic and a journalist IN JAIL for telling the truth.
