Prince Harry's and Meghan's Actual Environmentalism

1. Oct. 10 -- Take a Seven-Car Convoy Around the Block

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have raised eyebrows after a seven-car convoy was called in to drive them around a single block.  Harry and Meghan were in New York on Tuesday to speak at the World Mental Health Day Festival.  The couple left a garage near the Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards in a blacked-out SUV, and their convoy was flanked by NYPD patrol cars, totalling seven vehicles.  They were driven around the block, as per the one way street outside the garage, to then pull into a different garage on 33rd street – 200ft away from the first.

2.  Oct 16  -- Takes Private Plane to Vacation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Reports reveal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hopped on a private jet for their trip to Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines after attending a summit about the impact of climate change on mental health.  Harry and Meghan also used the same aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 7X jet, to travel from the exclusive Island retreat back to Atlanta, Georgia. A journey that reportedly took four hours.  According to the Mirror, the pair are being called "hypocrites" for their jet-setting ways, especially considering how much more fuel a private jet consumes per passenger in comparison to airlines.  The royal couple was present at the October 10 conference organized by Project Healthy Minds, during which the late Robin Williams' son, Zak Williams, talked about how climate change affects people's mental health, especially young individuals.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex once discussed their interest in the environment and green energy during their interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which Harry highlighted climate change and mental health as critical issues.

The 39-year-old prince said, "I believe even more that climate change and mental health are two of the most pressing issues we're facing, and in many ways linked."

Per the news outlet, Harry and Meghan's recent flight totaled 4,000 miles with an estimated 9.6 tons of CO2 emissions.  The Private Jet Allegedly Belongs To A Friend Of Prince Harry

3.  Oct 22  Flys to Watch US Grad Prix

Prince Harry is under fire over his decision to attend the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas  while 'lecturing' on climate change.  Prince Harry has previously said that climate change is "wreaking havoc on our planet, with the most vulnerable suffering most of all. Speaking on GB News, royal commentator Michael Cole questioned how Harry could square his eco activism with his passion for F1, a sport well known for its gas-guzzling engines and worldwide trave and his having flown to the event.  He advised Harry “practice what you preach” in a fiery rant about his recent environmentally unfriendly exploits.

4.  Nov 4  Meghan and Harry Take a Private Plane to Katy Perry Concert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been branded 'eco-hypocrites' after they flew on a private jet to a Katy Perry gig. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been outspoken on environmental issues in the past, hitched a ride with other celebrities on a plane owned by Texan oil heir Michael Herd from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas.

Of course, if the plane was going anyway and wouldn't have had passengers to replace them, then the environmental effect was probably no more and perhaps less than in a commercial plane.  But if they really are as concerned about the planet as they say, then staying home would have made sense.
